Kristina Chung is one odd duck. She actually finds the daunting, overwhelming, stress-inducing, all-consuming job of navigating the college admissions process to be an intriguing puzzle, a fun game, and a challenge to be met head on and mastered! That enthusiasm and energy helped guide her son to find his right fit at the University of California-Berkeley and her daughter to find hers at the University of Chicago.
And now she wants to keep going by helping your children find their right fit!
About Kristina
Before moving to Colorado in 2015, Kristina was a California federal and state trial court litigator and a partner in a law firm with offices throughout the United States and in France and Hong Kong. During her tenure, she wrote hundreds of briefs, legal filings, and articles for publication, and she supervised and edited the writings of junior attorneys. She also was a member of the prestigious JNE Commission which involved comprehensive research, reviewing applications and writing samples, and conducting interviews of judicial candidates for the California trial and appellate courts and the state's Supreme Court.
After relocating to Rocky Mountain territory with her family, Kristina also decided on a career pivot, channeling her 20+ years of legal experience in research, organization, and writing to focus on learning about the college admissions process. Her passion has only grown to now blossom into Purple Mountain College Consulting (with a nod to Pikes Peak!).
Kristina earned her B.A. at the University of Michigan as a student in the College of Literature, Science & the Arts Honors Program, with a double major in Journalism and Psychology. She holds a J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law where she was a managing editor on the Indiana Law Journal.
Kristina was actively involved at Cheyenne Mountain High School as PTO President and Boosters Club Co-President. She also served a full term as an officer and director on the Board of CASA of the Pikes Peak Region from 2016 to 2022 and currently offers free services to "CASA Kids" helping them to explore and navigate post-high school educational opportunities.
Kristina holds a second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, is a PADI-certified scuba diver, and has never met a dessert she didn't like. She currently lives in Colorado Springs with her husband Chris and their two dogs, Kuro and Mr. Smith.
